First off, can I just say how humbled and blessed I am by all the sweet comments and emails of support I received from y’all on my last post. Knowing that I have so much support from an online community makes a world of difference. Y’all really know how to bless a girl’s heart.
So, what’s new? I am completing half marathon number 10 this Saturday. Woop woop for double digits. No turning back now. This race was my second half marathon two years ago. I am traveling to Nashville to represent the Knoxville Marathon at the Women’s Half Marathon Expo so I figured I might as well run the race while I’m there, right? I haven’t trained a lick and know that I am not physically or mentally prepared for the race. Luckily, one of my very best friends and Big Sis just decided yesterday that this was the perfect opportunity for her to complete her very FIRST half. So exciting. We have made the executive decision to strictly walk this race. Since it is all women and there will be lots of pink and lady love going on it will be fun to actually walk and enjoy socializing and taking it all in. Plus it will give Big Sis the opportunity to check out the distance and hopefully she will fall in love and legit train for a race with me (since I’ve never actually followed a training plan in my life). Wish us luck.
I was fortunate enough to take some fitness classes at the gym here lately. Getting back into BodyPump isn’t for the faint of heart. My legs were crying for days. But it is the kind of hurt that hurts so good and I didn’t mind…too much.
I’m still working on a good list of short term and long term goals. I’ll be sure to share once I get them narrowed down to a good list.
By the way…anyone looking for a good spring half or full? Registration is now open for the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon on April 7th. I would love to have you come to Knoxville! Not to mention my apartment is literally 5 blocks from the start line so I have a super comfortable couch to offer.
Have a great Wednesday!
I can’t wait to see you again, Kelsey! And everyone thinking about Knoxville – I can attest to the comfort of that couch!!! 🙂
YAY!! Can’t wait to see/meet you this weekend!
Good Luck Saturday to both you and Yvonne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Kelsey! It was great meeting you on Saturday! So is your sister converted? I should try and talk my sister into walking a half marathon with me. That sounds much more fun than trying to sprint up those Nashville hills (ouch, my rear still hurts!).
I started doing yoga this year, in January, and then stopped in June. I just started another class two weeks ago and can say that I this is one of the best things for my runners body. I know not everyone is able to stretch and bend like the yoga moves. One of my sisters has always been ‘unstretchable’ in this regard, but she is quite fit and her legs are powerful and full of muscle.
Good luck at the marathon and have fun with woman bonding!
